T-Mobile is doing its own thing in mobile payment service, as it becomes the first carrier to offer Square credit card swipers to a number of stores. These small businesses will be equipped with T-Mobile smartphones armed with Square card readers, developed by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, making credit card transactions more convenient.
The Square mobile payment technology is ideal for cash-only businesses, numbering more than 26 million according to expert estimates, so they would not turn away card-carrying customers. The campaign will also be equipped with T-Mobile’s small business plans, business applications, equipment financing, trade-in services, and in-store support.
The small business pooling plans start at $59.99 monthly for two lines using 1000 Whenever Minutes with a two-year contract. The package also comes with a 4GPro App Pack, featuring a suite of business apps including DropBox, EverNote, Square, TripIt, CamScanner, and LinkedIn.
